What We Do
Food Security & Agriculture
DHDO improves food security, nutrition, and agricultural resilience for vulnerable, displaced, and crisis-affected households across Afghanistan. Our work ensures families have consistent access to safe, nutritious food while strengthening their ability to cope with shocks and rebuild sustainable livelihoods.
We promote climate-smart and resilient agriculture, supporting farmers with crop diversification, improved soil and water management, and the use of drought-tolerant and high-yield crop varieties adapted to local conditions. DHDO also advances women-led home gardening, improving household dietary diversity and empowering women as active contributors to food production.
We also construct and rehabilitate community irrigation systems, water management structures, and small-scale agricultural infrastructure that increase productivity and expand cultivable land.
Aligned with global and national FSAC priorities, DHDO targets IDPs, returnees, host communities, and food-insecure households. Through practical training delivered by skilled agricultural facilitators, we equip communities with the knowledge and tools needed to adopt sustainable practices and improve long-term resilience.
