What is DHDO?

Dawn Humanitarian and Development Organization (DHDO) is a national, women-led, non-governmental, and impartial organization with a strong operational presence in the Eastern, Central, and Northern regions of Afghanistan. Our teams work closely with communities affected by disasters, including climate change, displacement, poverty, and crises, supported by DHDO’s coordination and management structures at provincial and national levels.

We collaborate in designing and implementation community-based humanitarian and development programmes focused on social protection, women’s empowerment, livelihoods, food security, education, WASH, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, and social cohesion. Our work is grounded in local knowledge, community participation, and gender-responsive approaches.

What is the mission of your organization?

To empower Afghan communities through inclusive access to quality education, robust social protection systems, and sustainable economic opportunities. DHDO is committed to fostering long-term resilience by addressing the root causes of poverty, enhancing food security, promoting climate adaptation, and advancing human development through evidence-based programs, capacity building, and strategic partnerships.
